What a wild year it was at Cobblestone Hop Yard! Early April heat woke the hops up from their winter nap very early. Once the hops training was complete, it looked like the weather was going to cooperate so they could begin their ascent to the top wire. And then came the rain...and the heat. I think we found out that, although hops use a lot of water, there is such a thing as too much water. There were puddles that never quite had the chance to dry up all the way to harvest. Because of the high heat this summer, the harvest began and ended two weeks earlier than usual. Now I have time to enjoy a fall bonfire before winter hits.
